O grupo Águia trabalha organizando viagens para a Confederação Brasileira de Futebol há mais de 20 anos, e esse grupo trabalha com pacotes de viagens em eventos esportivos, e teve recorde em vendas de pacotes de hospitalidade na Copa do Mundo de 2014, e camarotes na Copa América em 2019. O grupo Águia, já chegou a gerenciar a Seleção Brasileira de Futsal em 2015, após a CBFS ter passado o controle para a CBF. Essa parceria, durou apenas 6 meses.
Segundo Laudo Jardim, a empresa tem a ideia de adquirir todos os ativos da Portuguesa, incluindo o Canindé e a sede lusitana. O objetivo seria construir um empreendimento de lazer no terreno do Canindé, como o L.A Live, um complexo de 520.260 metros quadrados.
Localizado em Los Angeles, o L.A Live tem em sua estrutura o Microsoft Square, Microsoft Theatre, Museu Grammy, Xbox Plaza, uma garagem subterrânea, e muito mais. A construção do complexo custou US$2.5 bilhões, e foi efetuada em 2 anos.
O problema, é que Wagner Abrahão e o Grupo águia não tem uma imagem muito boa na mídia, a primeira CPI do futebol em 2001, apontou suspeita de superfaturamento do Grupo Águia, já a segunda, apontou que ele tinha participações em negociações de patrocínio. Wagner é acusado nos EUA de pagamento de propina a José Maria Marin em mais de US$ 3 milhões.
No fim de seu segundo mandato, o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva indicou Wagner Abrahão para o Conselho Nacional do Turismo. Em 2019, a Conmebol escolheu o Grupo Águia para venda de pacotes de ingressos para a Copa América no Brasil. Os preços chegaram na marca de R$8,3 mil reais
